Mixed Media Printmaking is a 3 day intensive class that covers carborundum collagraph prints, drypoint, and chine-colle. While much technical information will be presented in the class including plate making using carborundum and drypoint, water and oil based inks, registration processes, and chine-colle using various asian papers, the emphasis of the class is on image making and each individual artist's aesthetic vision. The class will include a slide presentation and a class review of work.

What are carborundum prints?
A carborudum print is made using a metal grit that is glued to a printing plate. The plate is then inked and printed on an etching press. Carborundum prints produce rich tonal passages and are very tactile in surface textures.

Chine-Colle is a process where lighter papers are collages onto heavy papers using an etching press to apply pressure.
