Exploring Color Linocuts in Southern France with Jeffrey Hirst

May 14 - 20th, 2024

laRex l’Atelier~ Saint-Raphaël, France

Saint-Raphaël, France

Come explore the light of southern France while making color linocuts. During the seven-day course in San Raphael, will include work with multiple plates and reductive linocuts to develop color prints. The class will use the light and dramatic local color as a reference point while working with non-toxic linocut printing inks. We will create prints by hand print, and we will cover several easy-to-use registration systems. Additionally, we will cover complex color relationships by layering inks and color mixing while also focusing on each artist’s personal vision and imagery. The linocut process is direct and accessible. We will work small (8” x 8” -12” x 12”) enabling participants to work both inside and outside and making it easy to transport your materials.
